How to play Multiplication War online
- Each round, you and the computer each get two cards.
- Multiply your cards and type the answer on the number pad (or your keyboard).
- If you're right and your product is bigger, you win the round. A wrong answer gives the round to the computer.
- Lightning steal: answer correctly within a few seconds and you win the round even if your number is smaller.
- After 10 rounds, whoever won more rounds wins the war.
Levels
- Easy (Addition War): add your cards, numbers 1–10.
- Medium: multiply cards 1–10.
- Hard: multiply cards 1–12 with a 7-second clock each round.
Playing with a real deck of cards
Take out the jokers. Aces are 1, and jacks, queens and kings can be 11, 12 and 13 (or removed for younger players). Split the deck, both players flip two cards, and the higher product takes all four. Tie? It's war: each player flips two more cards and the winner takes the lot.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Multiplication War?
Each round you and the computer each get two cards. Multiply your two cards and type the answer. If you are right and your product is bigger than the computer's, you win the round. Answer fast enough and you can steal a round even with a smaller product. Win more of the 10 rounds to win the war.
How do you play Multiplication War with real cards?
Remove the face cards (or count them as 11, 12 and 13), deal the deck between two players, and each flip two cards. Multiply them, and whoever has the bigger product takes all four cards. If it's a tie, it's war: flip again.
Is there an addition version?
Yes. Easy mode is Addition War: add your two cards instead of multiplying. It's a great way to practice addition facts to 20.
What does hard mode change?
Hard mode uses cards up to 12, so you practice the full 12 times table, and you only have 7 seconds to answer each round.
Is Multiplication War good for learning times tables?
Yes. It turns times-table practice into a quick competition, and having to answer fast builds instant recall of multiplication facts.
